New driver events linked to ASDAN accreditation Steer Clear has developed a young drivers course, specifically for people approaching driving age. The course can be linked to ASDAN accreditation and is being delivered in mainstream schools. The programme includes six 2 hour sessions and covers attitude to risk, resistance to peer pressure, hazard perception and theory test. Other topics include the law in relation to driving and all students participate in a driving session. Courses have been funded by Connexions, Sheffield Futures and schools themselves. The aims of the sessions are to promote responsible vehicle use and motivate the young people to drive legally. Designed as a one stop shop for teachers, students and would be science superslueths the website supports the GCSE Applied Science Curriculum. Worksheets are available to download from the website and cost effective resources kits containing professional equipment are available for purchase. | | Steer Clear Launches New Interactive CD Rom in Urdu, French, Arabic and English This month sees the launch of a new multi lingual Road Safety CD Rom. The CD, funded by the Department of Transport, has been designed by Steer Clear and Mindfizz in conjunction with the UMCC. The CD is in an interactive format and is designed to iron out some of the confusion and ignorance around the law in relation to driving and the legal requirements around responsible vehicle ownership.
